PIANO LESSONS
If you’re a lover of music and not sure what instrument to start with, piano is almost always recommended. Piano lessons are the most popular lessons we offer, and this instrument is great for teaching the fundamentals of music. Most of our studio rooms are equipped acoustic pianos or electric keyboards for our students.
You do not have to have an acoustic or grand piano at home to take lessons! A simple full-size electronic keyboard will suffice for the first 6 months.
DRUMS LESSONS
Our percussion classrooms feature state-of-the-art soundproofing and a Roland drum kit for students to use! Our drum instructors teach rock, metal, jazz, funk, blues, and many other styles. Drum language can be complex, and our instructors are capable of challenging any drummer with a wide variety of technical exercises designed to improve your speed and comfort. All drummers bring in their favorite drum parts to learn in their lessons, and theory is encouraged. We have many drum students who play in local bands be it in rock clubs or their local churches! You do not have to purchase a drum kit to take lessons. Beginning students can learn with a drum pad and sticks for only a few dollars, which we have for sale at each location. Students use our drum set at their lessons and do not have to bring anything except their drumsticks and a notebook. You can purchase drum sets and other percussive instruments at our local store - Bentley’s Drum Shop.
STRINGS, FRETTED STRINGS, & WOODWINDS
We have pianos/keyboards in most of our studios, and we have a studio room designated for learning drums and percussive instruments. Students learning instruments like guitar, violin, accordion, and other handheld instruments would need to provide their own instrument to each lesson. We do have a limited stock of guitars and violins for sale at each of our locations. For other instruments, we refer to students purchase their desired instruments from the following local stores:
American Music Co - for instrument purchases
Gottschalk Music Center - for instrument rentals and purchases
Most of our instructors use method books during their lessons that students will need to bring to each lesson if recommended. We use the Faber Piano Adventures, Suzuki Method, Hal Leonard, and Essential Elements for Strings instruction books to name a few. You can purchase these instruction books at our schools. The instructor will determine what book is needed at the students’ first lesson when their level of proficiency is assessed. And if they are a beginner with no prior knowledge of music - that’s ok, too. We meet our students where they are at.
